hair:
James' hair is short, black, and is well known for never being able to lie flat on his head. It sticks up at odd angles sometimes, much to James' frustration, so he usually covers up this flaw by running his hands through it to make it messier, as if he had just gotten off his broomstick. He realizes shortly after that Lily cannot stand the fact that his does this though, so he stopped doing it on a regular basis. The old habit stuck though, and sometimes when he is nervous or frustrated, his hands can be found being ran through his hair once more.
eyes:
The deep, hazel eyes on his face are one of James' least favorite qualities about himself. He feels that hazel is a boring color, looks a bit like crap, and that none of the girls like that color, and instead go for the deep blue eyes. This assumption is very wrong of him, for he doesn't know that a lot of girls actually don't care about eye colors, though he still wishes his eye color would change. He did try transfiguring them once... though that didn't turn out very well, and he had to end up staying in the Hospital wing that night.
face:
James happens to have a rather attractive face. His charming smile, which he titles, "The Potter Smile" is something that can make quite a few girls' hearts melt, much to his pleasure. On the bridge of his nose lies a pair of round, black framed glasses, which are needed at all times for his horrible eyesight. His skin color is quite tan, the cause of spending most of his time playing Quidditch outdoors, either with his friends or with the rest of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team.
build:
Though James seems to eat nearly half of the food in the Great Hall and in the Kitchens, he is still in great shape from Quidditch. It seems as if all the food he scarfs down ends up as muscle, though his muscularity could be a cause of playing Chaser. Though he is muscular, he still has a nimble quality to himself, and likes to think that he would make a great Seeker, as well as Chaser.
height:
6 feet, 3 inches.
weight:
150 pounds
distinguishing features:
James doesn't have many distinguishing features about himself, yet he is still well known. He can almost always be found pulling pranks with his Marauder friends, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. If he isn't doing that, he is most likely either flying his broomstick, or constantly asking Lily out on a date. The only thing from his looks that makes him easily recognizable is his messy black hair, or his round lensed glasses.
clothing style:
James is usually wearing his school robes or his Quidditch ones, but during Hogsmeade, he will usually just wear a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, making sure to leave his muscles in view for all the girls to see.

mirror of erised:
When James looks into the mirror of erised, he sees himself getting married to Lily Evans. His desire is nothing more than to have Lily finally love him back.
fears:
-Death, it's a given, though he has an extra fear about it. His parents are both aurors, and he is afraid of the day that might come where he will receive a letter telling him that his parents were killed by Voldemort.
-Never winning Lily Evans' heart. The only future he sees is with Lily Evans, and if he never wins his heart, what will he do once he graduates from Hogwarts?
-Betrayal, the one thing James can't stand. He is very honest with his group of friends, telling them practically everything. If any one of their friends would betray any of them, their group would be in major trouble, most likely expelled or sent to azkaban due to the fact they are all illegal animagi. Betrayal is just one thing he is afraid of happening in their group.
boggart:
James' boggart is a dead Lily Evans. If he comes face to face with a boggart, it's Lily lying on the floor, Voldemort standing over her and grinning evilly. When he sees that, his knees weaken, but once he uses his brain and remembers that Lily couldn't possibly be here, and Voldemort would most definately not just stand there grinning like a maniac, he shouts Ridikulus, and the Boggart then changes into making a fool out of Snape, which gives him a good laugh nearly every time.
dementor:
When a dementor is in James' presense, his brain is filled with thoughts of all his loved ones... dead. He can hear his parents being murdered by Voldemort, his friends screaming for help, Lily pleading to survive... It just gives him the creeps and a huge wave of dread crashes over him, leaving him very, very, weak.
patronus:
When James yells out Expecto Patronum, a beautiful stag crashes out of his wand, charging at dementors. He doesn't have a real memory that he thinks of to perform such a great patronus, but he uses merely his imagination. If he needs an extremely happy moment, he pictures Lily coming up to him, telling her how much he loves her and kissing him on the lips. That brings him enough happiness to make his great patronus, though he feels as if he could make an entire army of patronuses.

personality:
Though James is quite caring and sweet deep down inside, he usually doesn't let that part show around others. In front of the entire school, whether in the great hall or while playing Quidditch, James can act very arrogant, immature, big-headed, and cocky. He doesn't realize that Lily Evans hates it when he acts like this, no matter how many times she yells at him to tell him why she won't date him. James likes to be well known, and prides himself in being Quidditch captain, top of transfiguration class (without having to study hard) and a great pranker, though he doesn't realize that quite a few people dislike him for those reasons, and he only looks at the fact that the younger years adore his groups great pranking skills, and that he is quite popular among them.
When James is with his Marauder friends in the Boys Dormitories, he puts popularity and pranking behind him, and his inside self comes out. When he does this, all of his good traits such as loyalty, dedication, and kindness come out. James is actually a very honest guy, and all his friends are his friends, well, because overall, he's a great friend. He wants to help out his friends as much as possibly, and helped come up with the idea of becoming an animangi so he, Sirius, and Peter could accompany Remus on the day of each full moon when Remus's transformation would occur, causing him to become a werewolf. James would never tell a soul any secret one of his friends told him, and doesn't mind making the Unbreakable Vow to keep one of their secrets because he knows he will never even have the urge to tell a single soul. James doesn't realize that if he acts how he is inside the dorms as when he is outside the dorms, Lily could possibly have a chance of liking him.
Another one of James' flaws is that he cannot stand getting what he wants. When he has a goal, he tries his hardest to reach it, not letting any obstacles get in his way. He wanted to be Chaser on the Quidditch team, he made it. He wants Lily, and he won't stop at anything to win her heart. He hexes and pranks and jinxes her boyfriends if he doesn't approve of them (Which is anybody that isn't himself). If he is denied what he wants, he doesn't take too kindly to it, making a huge deal about it, or getting very angry. The first time he had asked out Lily Evans, he had been shocked to hear her say no. Embarassed that he had been turned down by who he liked, he tried to put it off casually as if he didn't care, something he still does often. He still tries nearly every way possible to get her to say yes, whether making a big deal out of asking her, or doing it repeatedly, hoping she'll finally give in just to make him stop. So far, it hasn't worked yet, but he won't rest until she says yes.
Gryffindor was definately the house for James as the sorting hat was set on his head. James can be over-protective at times, but it isn't always a bad thing, as he is willing to throw himself in front of any of his loved ones if Voldemort happened to cast the killing curse. James does not fear death itself, but more of the death of those he loves, and he would protect them in any circumstance. Just because James will put himself in the front of the battle, it doesn't mean he won't put up a good fight first. James secretly wishes to become an Auror when he grows up, though he does not tell his friends, afraid they might laugh at him and crush his wish of protecting the world from You-Know-Who. So during school, while he can't show his hopes of becoming an Auror, he simply has a dislike of anyone who could possibly be a death eater, or anyone who enjoys the thought of Voldemort rising to power.
In conclusion of all this, James can be a great guy, you just have to put aside the fact that he likes to be seen and known. Sometimes his immaturity will hide the best of him, but once he fully matures, he'll finally show his heart, and he won't be such a big-headed prat any longer.

mother:
Sarah T. Potter, 44, Auror. Sarah Potter has always given James what he wanted as a child. She still calls him Jamesie, mostly because of the fact she thinks that if she stops, he soon won't even want to be known as her son anymore. She doesn't realize how much James really does love her. Pureblood
father:
William D. Potter, 46, Auror. William Potter has a great relationship with James. He was the one who taught James the "Famous Potter Smile", and he is also the one who gives James tips and stories about being an Auror. Mr. Potter is the one who is slowly helping James become a more mature person, though James doesn't realize that he is slowly changing, though it is for the better. Pureblood.

overall history:
James William Potter was born as the one and only child to his parents. Since he was an only child, his parents gave him whatever he wanted, and he grew up well taken care of. The result of his pampering gave him the problem of becoming angered when what he wants isn't fulfilled, and he seems a bit reckless when he tries to complete his wish. Luckily, he doesn't want things too often.
When James got his letter for Hogwarts, his parents were quite proud, though they had been expecting the letter. He went off to the Hogwarts express and quickly made his close friends, Sirius, Peter, and Remus. They got to know each other quite well for only meeting the first day, and since then, they could almost always be found together, unless Sirius and James went off to prank or if Remus had to go study in the library.
His 3 best friends weren't the only people he met on the train that day. In the very same compartment, he made one enemy, and one crush, which he stuck with and soon came to love as he got older. Her name was Lily Evans. His enemy, was Severus Snape. One reason he didn't like Snape from the begginning was 1: because he had wanted to become a Slytherin, and 2: Because Lily had been friends with Snape, while he had not. (James actually believed that they were boyfriend and girlfriend when he first saw them.) Ever since then, James and Snape had become enemies, and Lily had always had a dislike for James, although he liked her alot.
James was a natural at two of the specific schedules that year. Flying and Transfiguration. Quidditch was just a sport that he was naturally good at, and he soon became chaser in his second year of Hogwarts. He was also good at Transfiguration, whether because of his wand, or because he could concentrate and imagine the item being transfigured very clearly, he doesn't know. All he knows is that he is good at it. James isn't bad at the other subjects, he is actually quite good in every other subject. The only two subjects he could never seem to be good at was Potions, and Divination.
In third year, the group soon found out about Remus and his illness of being a werewolf. The group didn't care though, and they soon came up with a plan to become animagi and be able to accompany Remus on his trips. The group was unswervingly loyal to each other, and they were soon known as the Marauders, and a bunch of people looked up to their pranking skills.
Over the next two years as they worked on becoming Animagi, they also made another invention titled, "The Marauders Map." Which was a map of the entire school and where everyone was located. There they labeled all the secret places they had found while sneaking around the castle under James' invisibility cloak. A lot of their time was also spent working on pranking, as James' favorite person to prank was Snape, due to the fact that he was still friends with Lily. Once fifth year finally came along, James, Sirius, and Peter each perfected being an Animagi, and they were each the animal of their choice, A Stag, Grim, and a Rat. This was how they made their famous nicknames, Prongs, Padfoot, Wormtail, and of course Remus, whose nickname was Moony.
To James' satisfaction, he finally broke Lily and Snape's friendship after the O.W.L.S. that year. After he had hexed Snape until he was frustrated, he yelled at Lily, calling her a Mudblood, and their friendship was soon broken. He felt a bit bad, but satisfied with himself that they weren't friends anymore as he felt she deserved much better. Now... James just needs to find a way to get Lily to quit hating him, and maybe even like him someday....

experience:
To be honest, I haven't had much experience with roleplaying, and I just started up a few weeks ago. I do love writing though, and have a Marauders Era Fanfiction going on at the moment, and I have a lot of other fiction stories I enjoy writing in my freetime.
The atmosphere in the Boys Dormitories was at an eerie calm. The sky outside was a tinge of gray, though pure white snowflakes were falling from the clouds. A fireplace flickered in the common room, warding away any gust of chilly wind that was threatening to creep underneath the doorways. The usual snores or mumblings which usually filled the dorm were non-existant today, due to the fact that the four Marauders were sprawled out on their beds, fast asleep from the late night they had yesterday. They had snuck out secretly at midnight, bewitching snowballs to hit any supporter of Voldemort, including many Slytherins they didn't like. After nearly being caught by Filch and his horrid cat, they had managed to sneak back in the Gryffindor Common room and pass out, fast asleep on their beds.
A sudden wave of crispy bacon and fresh eggs managed to make its way up the steps, to where the boys were sleeping. James' nostrils flared slightly, taking in the sweet scent that was satisfying his empty stomach. He rolled over in his bed to get a better whiff of the delicious smell, of the wonderful breakfast that had been cooked up for the hungered students...
WHAM! James landed painfully on the floor, pulling him out of his state of half-consciousness, taking him away from the joyful dream he had been having which happened to star a certain redhead, and bringing him into reality. He groaned at being awoken so quickly and suddenly, and threw on his robes. He gave a small attempt to flatten his hair but to no avail, and quickly gave up, trudging down the stairs to the Great Hall, leaving his 3 sleeping friends to have a few extra hours of calmness.
The sight downstairs was quite chaotic, yet humorous at the same time. A few of the Slytherins who had badly decided to step outside in the cool air were covered in snow, clearly having been attacked with various snowballs. One of the people who had been attacked was Severus Snape, the greasy haired boy Lily still called her friend. James couldn't suppress a grin as he saw Snape's furious look, but the grin vanished as quickly as it had appeared when he noticed Lily's furious look. James sighed. So many people loved their group, so many people thought they were the greatest pranksters of the century. They were well-known, popular, and don't get him wrong, he had nothing against it, though there was one thing he wanted that seemed as if he would never win. Her name was Lily Faith Evans.
If only James could find a way to get her to fancy him...
